Biography
McGauley is in his fourth professioal season and second for the Utah Grizzlies. Last year McGauley had 14 goals and 14 assists for the Grizz. He also had 4 goals in 3 games in the 2019 Kelly Cup Playoffs Presented by SmileDirect Club. McGauley scored 13 goals and 23 assists in 48 games for the South Carolina Stingrays. He suited up for 39 games with the Stingrays during his rookie year, scoring 17 points on four goals and 13 assists.
He enjoyed an exceptional junior career with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL. In 276 career games with Brandon, McGauley scored 259 points (102 goals, 157 assists) over parts of five seasons. During the 2015-16 season, McGauley served as an alternate captain with Brandon and led the Wheat Kings to a WHL Championship. In the WHL playoffs, McGauley scored 26 points (eight goals, 18 assists), good for fourth in the league.
The forward enjoyed his best season with Brandon during the 2014-15 campaign. He appeared in 72 games and led the team in goals (42), assists (63), and points (105). He finished third in the WHL in points and was named the Eastern Conference player of the year. He was also a finalist for the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy, awarded to the WHL player of the year. McGauley signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Capitals on October 5, 2015.
