Career Notes: Enters 14th career season in 2017-18 after signing a professional tryout agreement with the Iowa Wild on Oct. 5, 2017…  2016-17: Did not play…  2015-16: Did not play… 2014-15: Started the season with the New York Rangers, appearing in six games and recording 4 PIM. Played most of the season with the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL). Finished the regular season with four goals, six assists and 29 PIM in 24 games played… 2013-14: Scored a goal in 600th career NHL game on Nov. 9, 2013 at Detroit. Played in 57 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning, finishing the season third on the team in PIM with 67. Also tallied five goals and 10 assists for 15 points... 2012-13: Played in 24 games for the Lightning. Finished with eight points (six goals and two assists) and 22 PIM…  2011-12: Finished fifth on team in goals (20), fourth in assists (28) and second in PIM (82) in 68 games played for Tampa. Recorded fourth career hat trick on March 29, 2012 against the New Jersey Devils… 2010-11: Finished the regular season t-sixth in goals (14), fifth in assists (24) and seventh in PIM (51) in 54 games played. Appeared in 18 playoff games for Tampa, finishing with three goals (t-fifth), three assists (t-ninth) and 24 PIM (second). Went to Eastern Conference Finals with Tampa Bay (lost in seven games to eventual-champion Boston, dropping Game Seven 1-0) Led Lightning in hits (43) in postseason and finished fifth among Tampa Bay skaters in regular-season assists… 2009-10: Named to the United States Olympic team on January 1, 2010 and won a silver metal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, B.C. Played in six Olympic games, scoring three goals and tallying two assists for five points. Recorded third career hat trick on October 10, 2009 against the Carolina Hurricanes. Finished fifth in goals (21) and sixth in assists (26) for 47 points in 69 games played for Tampa. Also finished in fifth for PIM with 68.  Ranked fourth on Tampa Bay team in points and fifth in goals. Scored seven GWG, tied for Tampa Bay team lead and tied for fourth in NHL… 2008-09: Traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning from the Pittsburgh Penguins in June of 2008. Finished third in goals (26) and sixth in assists (19) for t-fourth in points (45) in 70 games played for Tampa. Also finished third in PIM with 98. Posted top shooting percentage in NHL, with a mark of 21. Tallied third-most goals on Tampa Bay club, and finished tied for fourth in points, tied for second in +/- (+4) and third in PIM. 300th career NHL game was Tampa Bay debut Oct. 4, 2008 vs. NY Rangers…2007-08:  Acquired by Tampa Bay from Pittsburgh, along with Gary Roberts, for a 3rd-rd. draft pick June 28, 2008. Finished the regular season third in goals (27), sixth in assists (24) for fifth in points (51). Also finished third on team in PIM (103) in 77 regular-season games for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Played in 20 playoff games, scoring six goals (four-way tie for third in goals) and t-fourth in PIM with 25.  Went to Stanley Cup Finals with Pittsburgh (lost in six games to Detroit). Tied for third-most playoff goals on Pittsburgh club and had fourth-most postseason points on team. Led Pittsburgh skaters in regular-season GWG (6), Finished third in goals and +/- (+14), and had fifth-most points on team...2006-07: Notched first four-point NHL game on December 13, 2006 against Philadelphia Flyers. Two days later, scored first hat trick against the New York Islanders. Malone and his father, Greg Malone, became the second father-son duo in NHL history to score hat tricks for the same team. Greg Malone scored his hat trick on March 28, 1979 against the New York Rangers. Malone played for the Penguins from 1976 through the 1982-83 season. Ryan Malone scored his second career hat trick against the Islanders again on February 19, 2007, scoring a goal in the first minute of all three periods. Appeared in five playoff games for the Penguins.  One of 13 NHL players to post two hat tricks on the season, notching his first as a pro 12/15 vs. NY Islanders (+4, First Star in 7-4 win) and also turning the trick Feb, 19, 2007 at NY Islanders (seven shots in 6-5 loss)… 2005-06: Returned to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Finished t-third in goals (22) and fifth in overall points with 44 in 77 games played. Scored Pittsburgh team-leading five SHG, good for a tie for third in NHL. Tied for third-most goals on Pittsburgh club and finished fifth on team in points… 2004-05: During the 2004-05 NHL lockout, Malone played split the season between the Ritten Renon (Italy-A) and the Espoo Blues (SM-liiga). Finished fifth in goals (6) and 20 PIM in 10 games played for the Renon. Finished regular season with the Blues and was t-ninth in PIM with 36 in nine games played. Played with Ambri-Piotta (Swiss-A) during the playoffs, appearing in one game and adding 2 PIM... 2003-04: Top goal-scorer on Pittsburgh squad and finished with third-most points on team. NHL All-Rookie Team selection. Led NHL rookies in SHG with three, and was fourth in points and goals among league first-year pros. Played 81 games in rookie season for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Led team in with 22 goals. Also finished third in assists with 21 for a total of 43 points in rookie campaign… 2002-03: Played most of the season with St. Cloud State University (WCHA). Led St. Cloud State in PIM with 85. Finished t-third in goals (16) and finished third in assists (20) in 27 games played. Finished the 2002-03 season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL). In three games played, tallied an assist and 2 PIM… 2001-02: Finished second in goals (24), fifth in assists (25) and third in points (49) in 41 games played for St. Cloud State… 2000-01: Finished fifth on the team with 52 PIM in 36 games played for St. Cloud State… 1999-00: Led St. Cloud State University (WCHA) in PIM with 68 in 38 games played. Also finished t-fourth in assists (21) and overall points (30)… 1998-99: Began hockey league career at 18 years old in 1998-99 with the Omaha Lancers (USHL). He finished t-fourth among team in assists with 22 for 36 points in 51 games played. Played in 12 playoff games, scoring two goals, tallying four assists and 23 PIM (third on team).
