McKenzie signed a two-year contract with the AHL’s Texas Stars on August 6, 2021. He enters the 2022-23 season ranking tied for third in Texas history with 240 points, which consists of 103 goals (2nd), and 137 assists (4th). McKenzie also ranks seventh in club history with 295 games played and second with 428 penalty minutes. He also is tied for second in Texas postseason history with 16 goals and 38 points in 54 games. McKenzie has reached the Calder Cup Final three times, in 2014 and 2018 with Texas as well as 2019 with Chicago. Finished the 2019 playoff run tied for Chicago’s team lead in postseason scoring with 15 points (8-7=15) in 21 games. Alternate captain for both Chicago and Utica from 2018 to 2021. During the 2018 Calder Cup Playoffs, he led the postseason with 11 goals and ranked second with 20 points. He led the Stars in goal-scoring during the 2015-16 and 2017-18 seasons and ranked second on the team in point production during the 2013-14, 2015-16, and 2017-18 seasons. He garners three career hat tricks, all achieved with Texas. McKenzie was named the fifth captain in Texas history on Nov. 15, 2017. He tied a franchise record with five points in a single game against San Diego during the 2017-18 season. As a rookie, he helped Texas win their first Calder Cup Championship in 2014, while leading all rookies in the postseason with 11 assists. Voted the winner of the AHL’s 2014 Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award as the league’s outstanding rookie. Recognized on the 2014 AHL All-Rookie Team and earned AHL Rookie of the Month honors in December 2013.
